Police find kayak of missing man off West Island
FAIRHAVEN, Mass. (AP) — Fairhaven Police say the kayak of a missing 21-year-old man has been found off of West Island.
Authorities have been searching for Dana Dourdeville of Marion since he failed to return from a duck hunting trip on Tuesday afternoon.
Fairhaven police Sgt. Kevin Kobza says Dourdeville’s mother found his car parked in a lot at the West Island town beach at about 7 p.m.
The U.S. Coast Guard located kayak about 3 miles offshore between West Island and Falmouth at about 11 p.m. Kobza says there was a single glove inside and it did not appear the kayak had flipped.
The search was called off for the night around 4 p.m. Police say a “limited search” will resume Thursday.
