July 19, 2019

HELENA, Mont. (AP) — Montana officials say the state’s unemployment rate reached a 10-year low of 3.5% last month.

That’s two-tenths of a percent lower than the national unemployment rate in June.

State labor statistics indicate total employment gained 1,019 jobs, which includes agricultural, payroll and self-employed workers. Only 499 workers were added to the labor force over the month.

Payroll employment added 2,200 jobs last month, including 900 jobs in leisure and hospitality.

Fallon County recorded the state’s lowest jobless rate at 1.5%. Glacier County had the highest rate at 7.6%.

Among the state’s reservations, the Northern Cheyenne had the highest rate at 12.6%.
