BETHLEHEM, Pa. (AP) _ Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Hollis Thomas has fractured his right foot and is out indefinitely.

Coach Andy Reid said Saturday he did not know when Thomas would return. This is the same injury that kept Thomas out of five games last year.

Reid said Thomas hurt his foot during one-on-one drills Friday. Thomas was walking around later in the day without crutches and drove himself from practice. Reid also said the screw placed in Thomas’ foot after last year’s injury remains intact.

Defensive coordinator Jim Johnson said the Eagles will prepare for the season as if they will be without Thomas. Darwin Walker and Paul Grasmanis will compete for Thomas’ position.

Last December, Thomas broke his foot in pregame warm-ups against the New York Giants. He was placed on injured reserve and missed the Eagles’ final two regular-season games and three playoff games. He made 70 tackles in 14 appearances last year.
