Starr To Testify at Impeachment
WASHINGTON (AP) _ The House Judiciary Committee’s impeachment hearings are under way. They’ve been called to order by chairman Henry Hyde. The first witness _ prosecutor Kenneth Starr _ is seated at the witness table.
The hearing began with a Democratic member, William Delahunt of Massachusetts, making a motion asking that White House lawyers get two hours to question Starr, rather than the 30 minutes they’re being allowed. Hyde responded that the time allotments are fair.
In rejecting that motion, Hyde responded that the White House could ``go a long way″ toward helping uncover the facts, if President Clinton would submit answers to more than 80 questions submitted to him by the committee.
