Voss rolls 299, takes lead
RICHLAND, Wash. (AP) _ Brian Voss rolled a 299 game Thursday in building a 72-pin lead over Steve Wilson after three rounds of the PBA Northwest Classic.
Voss, a PBA Hall of Famer, has downed 4,230 pins and is averaging 235 for 18 games.
Wilson, who got his first two titles last season, is averaging 231.
Len Blakey of Tacoma, Wash., rolled the first 300 of the tournament and averaged 251 for his six-game block to move into third, six pins behind Wilson.
Norm Duke was fourth with 4,111 pins and first-round leader Tim Criss was fifth with 4,108.
The top 24 will compete in match play through Friday night, with the top five advancing to Saturday’s finals.
