Police: Teen says he helped rob 2 stores, kill 2 clerks
MACON, Ga. (AP) — Police say a teen confesses to participating in robbing two middle Georgia convenience stores and killing two clerks.
The Telegraph reports that Bibb County sheriff’s investigator Coleman Lewis testified Friday concerning 16-year-old Arie Calloway’s confession.
The testimony came in a hearing for 17-year-old Jeremy Jerome Kendrick, also accused in the killings of Alpeshkumar Prajapati during an Aug. 14 robbery and Waqar Ali during an Aug. 22 robbery, both in Macon.
Also charged with armed robbery and murder is 28-year-old Vernon Bernard Ashley Jr.
Lewis says an informant tipped police to the teens’ involvement. Lewis testifies Calloway shot Prajapati after he couldn’t open a safe. Ashley says Calloway went to where Ali was working. Lewis, though, says Calloway told police Kendrick fought with Ali while Calloway ran before hearing a gunshot.
