Easton PD reopens road after tree takes down pole, transformer

August 18, 2018

EASTON — About 60 residents were without power for roughly eight hours on Saturday when a tree knocked down a utility pole and a transformer.

Around 8:15 a.m., Easton police were at Delaware Road between the two Asmara Way intersections for a United Illuminating pole and a transformer down in the road. Photos showed what appeared to be a tree that pulled down the pole.

Oil had to be cleared up from the roadway, police said.

UI reported, at the height of outages, that an estimated 60 customers in the area were without power. By 4:23 p.m., police said power had been restored to the area. Anyone still having power problems should call 1-800-722-5584.

At 4:23 p.m., police were able to reopen the roadway to all traffic.
