MIAMI (AP) _ Florida Marlins manager John Boles, who had hoped to be back in the dugout Tuesday, will remain sidelined until next week with a sprained neck.

Boles has been out since Friday because of the ailment. He also missed two games in early May to undergo emergency back surgery.

Boles came to the ballpark Tuesday but was sent home before the game against St. Louis. He'll stay at home the rest of the week while Fredi Gonzalez manages the team.

``I'm very disappointed and depressed,'' Boles said. ``I'm just not over this thing yet. As much as I'd like to proclaim I am, I need a little more time.''

Boles will undergo therapy the rest of the week, and he hopes to return for Florida's series at home against Baltimore beginning Monday.

Through Monday, the Marlins were 1-5 with Gonzalez as interim manager.

``I came in today expecting to coach third base,'' Gonzalez said. ``Bolesy says, `You're managing again,' and I said, `Aw, shoot.'''
