Ark.-Pine Bluff 41, Mississippi Valley 16

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) _ Doug Switzer, the son of Dallas Cowboys coach Barry Switzer, threw three touchdown passes Saturday night as Arkansas-Pine Bluff defeated Mississippi Valley State 41-16.

Switzer completed 12 of 23 passes for 178 yards in his debut for the Golden Lions. His 29-yard scoring pass to Kevin Soward just before halftime put Arkansas-Pine Bluff up 14-10, and Anthony Williams’ 34-yard reception gave the Lions a 21-10 lead early in the third quarter.

Switzer added an 11-yard pass to Marcus Goodwin in a 20-point fourth quarter. Ray Nealy also rushed 28 times for 154 yards and one touchdown for Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

Mississippi Valley’s Keith Poindexter completed 16 of 32 passes for 300 yards and two touchdowns _ a 3-yarder to Alonzo Terrell and a 39-yarder to Steven Booze.

Marcus Batts returned an interception 48 yards for a touchdown on the last play of the first quarter, giving Arkansas-Pine Bluff a 7-0 lead. It was one of five interceptions for the Golden Lions. Switzer was not intercepted.
