Kankakee police investigate 2 reports of shots fired

KANKAKEE — A vehicle and house were struck by gunfire in the 600 block of South Rosewood Avenue in Kankakee on Sunday.

According to Kankakee police, officers were dispatched at 8:51 p.m. to the 600 block of South Rosewood for a report of shots fired.

A bullet hit an upstairs wall on the east side of the house. The vehicle that was hit was parked in front of the house.

Several shell casings were recovered.

Another report of shots fired occurred at 3:03 a.m. Sunday in the 500 block of North Fifth Avenue.

According to a report, an officer was on scene with a large crowd when shots were fired. Because of the crowd, it was hard to see who was shooting.

Four shell casings were recovered in the alley just to the south of an apartment.
