For the fourth straight year, Odessa agencies will have a chance to interact with the public in a relaxed environment.
Chick-fil-A is hosting Local Hero Night from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at their location on 42nd Street.
Odessa Police Department spokesperson Cpl. Steve LeSueur has attended Local Hero Night for the past several years and he said it’s an enjoyable experience.
“It’s very nice for how supportive (Chick-fil-A) is of our department and that they even do this for us,” he said. “We really appreciate it.”
The local agencies that will be in attendance are OPD, Odessa Fire Rescue, Ector County Sheriff’s Office, Department of Public Safety and Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Courtney Ashley, 42nd Street Chick-fil-A marketing director, said she is excited for Local Hero Night. The event has face painting, balloon artist, kids and canvas doing five-minute paint tutorials, photo booth and one of the officers from OPD will be the DJ.
“This is what I would say our biggest event of the year,” Ashley said. “The public has come out and supported this event in droves. It’s grown every single year. For that, we are very thankful to see Odessa come together.”
The outer most edge of the drive thru will still be open, but the rest of the parking lot is going to be closed. Ashley stated over the phone the parking lot will be full of local agencies’ vehicles.
“It’s going to be a pretty full parking lot,” she said with a laugh.
