Woman killed, 3 others injured in apartment blaze

NEW YORK (AP) — A woman has died and three other people needed medical attention after a late-night fire tore through a fifth-floor apartment.

The New York Police department says police and firefighters responded to 62nd Avenue in Queens shortly after 11:30 p.m. Saturday for a fire inside the building.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze, and took a 51-year-old from the site.

The woman was identified as Anna Latek. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Three other people were taken to the hospital for smoke installation.

The cause is under investigation.
