Monroe to run family fishing class

MONROE — The Parks and Recreation Department will sponsor a family fishing class from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. May 2, at the Monroe Senior Center, 235 Cutler’s Farm Road. The class also includes a fishing trip from 9 a.m. to noon May 4 at Great Hollow Lake.

During the classroom portion on May 2, instructors will cover all the basics to get started fishing in an interactive setting and will touch on equipment, knots, proper bail selection, rules and regulations, casting, and how to take care of your catch.

Each family will receive thw “Let’s Go Fishing” student workbook. All rods, reels, and tackle will be provided for students to borrow, though students may bring their own.

Students will have to bring their own bait. Minimum age is 9 and all children must have parents participating with them. The program is from, however registration is required for all family members. Register at the Monroe Parks and Recreation web site, www.MonroeRec.org.
