SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) _ Ed Vande Berg, making his first appearance in a major league uniform since 1988, was the losing pitcher Monday as the Chicago Cubs beat the San Francisco Giants 4-3.

Vande Berg gave up two runs on two hits and two walks in one inning, and also struck out two. He signed a minor league contract last week with the Giants.

Vande Berg won 21 games for the Seattle Mariners in 1982-85. He later pitched for Los Angeles, Cleveland and Texas.

Vince Harris' two-run single off Vande Berg gave the Cubs a 4-2 lead in the sixth inning.

The turnstile attendance at the Giants' 10,500-seat Scottsdale Stadium was 2,509.

San Francisco added outfielder Ray Corujo to its spring training roster Monday, giving the Giants 54 players on their roster.
