Nurse pleads guilty to prescription drug possession

January 25, 2019

DOVER, N.H. (AP) — A nurse at a long-term care facility in New Hampshire has pleaded guilty to possession of Oxycodone that belonged to a resident.

Jennifer Blaisdell, of South Berwick, Maine, was accused of fraudulently documenting that doses of the drug were given to residents by other nurses at the Dover facility. The 47-year-old Blaisdell was indicted in 2017 on multiple counts of obtaining a controlled drug by fraud, deceit, misrepresentation or subterfuge.

She received a suspended sentence Thursday of one year in jail and a $1,000 fine, pending good behavior for five years. She also must permanently surrender her privileges to practice as an LPN in both Maine and New Hampshire.

Blaisdell also is prohibited from caring for sick, elderly, and/or vulnerable individuals, and from working in any position where she is responsible for handling controlled drugs.
