Prestonsburg downs HHS girls

RACELAND, Ky. — Kaitlin Keathley’s 24 points led Prestonsburg past Huntington High, 72-67, in a Thursday girls basketball game at the Ohio River Classic.

Alivia Slone followed with 15 and Carolina Ariaz scored 14 for the Blackcats (6-5).

Ravyn Goodson tossed in 17 to pace Huntington High (5-3). Madison Slash added 13, Katie Swann scored 12 and Latahia Jackson netted 11.

The Highlanders’ next game is 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Parkersburg.

HUNTINGTON ST. JOE 77, RED BANK 39: Dena Jarrells scored 17 and the Irish defeated Red Bank (Tennessee) at a holiday tournament in Cleveland, Tennessee. Bailee Adkins scored 16 and Paige Shy 14 for St. Joe (6-1).Lee Bailey led Red Bank (4-4) with 14 points.

FAIRLAND 51, CLEVELAND HOLY NAME 38: Kelsie Warnock scored 20 and Allie Marshall 12 as the Dragons (4-3) beat the Green Wave (3-6) at Trinity High School in Garfield Heights, Ohio. Becky Styers and Brooke Kowalski led Holy Name with 11 points each.

CABELL MIDLAND 62, DREHER 39: Rylee Allie led all scorers with 20 points and led the Knights to a win at the Carolina Invitational in Charleston, South Carolina. Cabell Midland head coach Matt Adkins said the Knights will play again at 5 p.m. Friday and conclude the tournament Saturday.

JOHNSON CENTRAL 81, RUSSELL 61: The Golden Eagles (7-1) used 61.8 percent shooting to defeat the Red Devils (3-6) in the Dan Swartz Classic at Bath County.

Cory VanHoose and Isaiah May led Johnson Central with 20 and 19 points respectively. Tristan Miller tossed in 21 for Russell.

Johnson Central has another game in the tournament at 6:30 p.m. Friday against East Carter.
