Lanes closing to disconnect former VFW site

July 11, 2018

The center lanes of Sixth Street Southwest, between Broadway and First Avenue, will be closed starting Friday.

Kats Excavating will be doing watermain disconnect work at the former VFW building site, according to Rochester Public Works. Work is scheduled to continue into Monday morning.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction for both eastbound and westbound traffic on Sixth Street Southwest.

The left-turn lanes on Sixth Street Southwest at South Broadway and First Avenue will also be affected, forcing them to be closed or reduced in length.

The lane closure comes as construction work is beginning on Fourth Street Southwest, heading west of First Avenue. As a result, Public Works expects there additional traffic using Sixth Street Southwest, causing potential delays with the new closure.
