HUNTINGTON — Marshall University’s annual beginning-of-the-semester Herd Rally took place Thursday evening at Pullman Square in Huntington after being postponed over a forecast of inclement weather last week.

The Marching Thunder, cheerleaders, dance team, coaches, athletes and, of course, Marco pepped up the students for the upcoming football season.

The pep rally was originally scheduled for Aug. 16 as a Week of Welcome activity for incoming freshmen but was moved due to anticipated poor weather conditions.

The first football game for the Thundering Herd will take place Sept. 1 at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. The Herd’s first home game is Sept. 8 against Eastern Kentucky University.
