Statehouse ice rink to receive design upgrades
MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) — The ice rink in front of the Vermont Statehouse is getting a makeover.
Local 22 News reports work began Monday on the Montpelier winter attraction. Officials decided to upgrade the rink after the Capitol Complex Commission raised concerns about its appearance.
Assistant City Manager Susan Allen says the project will cost $60,000. The city’s recreation department will fund $25,000, the state will pay $15,000 and grants will cover the remainder.
Allen says the rink will open early unlike last year.
