Harold A. Piggush, 91, of Kankakee, passed away Friday (Feb. 15, 2019) at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee.
He was born Feb. 13, 1928, in Kankakee, the son of Raymond and Emma (Noffke) Piggush. Harold married Dolores Essington on Oct. 2, 1949, at the Buckingham Methodist Church.
Harold retired from General Foods after 36 years of employment. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, reading and watching auto racing daily on Speed TV. He was one of the original Kankakee Westview Spurs who built the sports field.
He proudly served in the U.S. Navy for two years.
Surviving are his wife, Dolores, of Kankakee; three sons, Glen (Chris) Piggush, of Chebanse, Bruce (Jackie) Piggush, of Mesa, Ariz., and Lyle (Julie) Piggush, of Bradley; two sisters, Louise Johnston, of Kankakee, and Doris (Bill) Miller, of Gilman; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Geraldine (Essington) West and Mary Ellen (Essington) and Tom Greenwood.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Fred and George Piggush; and one sister, Laura Kroll.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, until the 11 a.m. visitation at Schreffler Funeral Homes, Kankakee Chapel. The Rev. Miranda Dinges will officiate the service. Private burial will follow.
Memorials may be made to Trinity Methodist Church or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
