ROCK FALLS – A 65-year-old Rock Falls man is in fair condition today after he was injured in a hit-and-run while crossing the street in his wheelchair Saturday night.

Police continue to search for the driver of the vehicle.

Joseph Urbani – also known as “Joe Toes” – was crossing Dixon Avenue at the intersection of Avenue A around 7:45 p.m. when he was hit by the vehicle, according to Rock Falls Police.

He was taken to CGH Medical Center and later transferred to OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford.

“There weren’t any witnesses at the time of the accident. We are still looking for the vehicle,” Police Chief Tammy Nelson said.
