Woman Arrested For Assaults On 12 Hamburger Joints
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) _ A teen-ager who police say robbed or tried to rob 12 fast-food restaurants of more than $2,100 over the weekend was in custody today after she backed her pickup truck into a police car.
″There were hamburgers lying all over that truck,″ said police Lt. Nelson Horne.
Miriam Alamo, 19, is accused of starting a crime spree July 15 that was capped over the weekend when she allegedly drove up to a dozen fast-food restaurants armed with an automatic pistol, ordered hamburgers and then held up the drive-in window cashiers, said Horne.
On Sunday, police said, an officer spotted her circling a restaurant in a stolen pickup truck, and Ms. Alamo allegedly backed the vehicle into him in an effort to escape.
She also was charged with stealing two vehicles, shoplifting and breaking into a motel room to steal $14,000 in cash, government bonds and jewelry, and was beind held in lieu of $138,500 bail.
