Eugene M. Oleshko

Eugene Michael Oleshko, 80, of Watertown, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2019.

Visitation will be held at Hafemeister Funeral Home on Friday from 5-8 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Father Miroslaw Szynal officiating. Burial will take place at St. Bernard’s Catholic Cemetery. Gene was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Michael and Josephine (nee Czajkowski) Oleshko on Dec. 11, 1938. He married Phyllis LaMonica on Feb. 20, 1960. Gene is survived by his children, Steve (Holly) Oleshko of Hustisford, Susan Moldenhauer of Watertown and Eugene (Sheri) of Clive, Iowa, as well as grandchildren Mallory and Mia Oleshko, Ryan and Rachel Moldenhauer and Tony and Drew Oleshko; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Gene was preceded in death by his loving wife, Phyllis; son-in-law, Jon Moldenhauer; parents; sister, Genevieve Gabry; sisters-in-law, Angela LaMonica and Rosemary Forsyth; brothers-in-law, Edward Gabry and Jack Forsyth; and nephew Richard Gabry.

Gene repaired transformers at General Electric where he worked for 42 years. Gene enjoyed attending his children’s and grandchildren’s academic, music and sports activities. Gene was an avid Chicago sports fan, and his hobbies included gardening, tropical fish and coaching.

The family would like to thank Dr. Siegel of the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic in Summit as well as Rainbow Hospice of Johnson Creek for their incredible compassion and care.
