Education standouts

Sandra Boggie of Santa Fe has been named to the Dean’s List at John Carroll University for the fall 2018 semester. John Carroll University is located in University Heights, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland.

Charles R. Schwindt of Santa Fe, graduated from Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kan., in the fall 2018 semester with a master’s degree in public administration.

Santa Fe resident Miles Teng-Levy has been accepted into the Yale Young Global Scholars summer program, where he will study Frontiers of Science and Technology. This year’s applicant pool was the largest ever, representing over 120 countries and all 50 U.S. states, according to a news release. Miles is a sophomore at the Mandela International Magnet School.

Several students from Northern New Mexico were among 218 high school seniors from Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming who earned college scholarships through the Daniels Fund, out of nearly 2,000 applicants.

Daniels Scholars may attend any accredited nonprofit college or university in the U.S. The program covers educational expenses that remain after any other scholarships, financial aid and the federal expected family contribution have been applied, according to a news release.

The following students were among 24 Daniels Fund Scholarship recipients from around New Mexico: Alberto Damian Castro and Eric Alejandro Oquedo of Capital High School, Arlin Manuel Diaz Torres and Estrella Torres of Pojoaque Valley High School, Hannah Cecilia Night Laga Abram of Santa Fe Waldorf School and Chloe Lilia Rojas-Grainger of Taos Academy Charter School.

Morgan Hagman of Santa Fe was named to the Dean’s List at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs for the fall 2018 semester. Morgan is in the College of Letters, Arts and Sciences.

Stephanie Kuzmack of Los Alamos recently was initiated into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Kuzmack is pursuing a degree in sociology at Texas Tech University.
