Police say it began when police attempted to pull over a suspect’s vehicle near 96th Street and Second Avenue just before 9 p.m. Thursday.
Police say the vehicle rammed the police car and then fled onto the FDR Drive. At about 15th Street, police stopped the vehicle and were approaching it when the vehicle reversed and struck an officer.
Police then fired shots at the vehicle, which took off and was later found abandoned near Houston Street.
Police say the officer suffered minor neck and arm injuries and was hospitalized.
