Police arrest suspect in case of woman’s body found on road
KENT, Wash. (AP) — Authorities have identified a woman whose partially burned body was found near Lake Tapps.
News outlets reported Wednesday the body of 64-year-old Linda Sweezer was found just after 4 a.m. Tuesday.
Pierce County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Ed Troyer says investigators believe Sweezer was killed inside her Kent home and later dumped along a road.
Troyer says surveillance images from a nearby home show two sets of car headlights leaving the scene after attempts were made to set her body on fire.
Troyer also said detectives found a 4-month-old infant inside the victim’s home believed to be the woman’s granddaughter. The baby was taken to a hospital and is expected to recover.
Police said they were searching Wednesday for 25-year-old Lance Rougeau, who is suspected of being involved in the murder. Authorities said Wednesday night that he had been taken into custody.
