Maine plays football opener at Norfolk State
ORONO, Maine (AP) — The University of Maine football team is kicking off the season with a game on the road against Norfolk State University.
The Black Bears play the Spartans in Norfolk, Va., on Saturday night, with opening kickoff scheduled for 6 p.m. The game will be the first meeting between the two schools.
Maine’s second game is also on the road, against the University of Massachusetts on Sept. 7, with the home opener coming Sept. 14 against Bryant University.
In a preseason poll, UMaine was picked to finish eighth in the Colonial Athletic Conference this season.
Maine finished last season with a 5-6 overall record, and 4-4 in conference play.
