Heard on the Street: Another national retailer could be closing its stores
Another national retailer could be closing all of its stores, according to media reports.
Reuters is reporting that Topeka, Kansas-based Payless ShoeSource is planning to close all of its about 2,300 stores when it files for bankruptcy later this month.
Reuters is attributing the information to sources close to the deal.
Payless has a shop in Rochester’s Apache Mall as well as in-store locations inside the city’s two ShopKo stores.
Shopko Stores Operating Co. LLC, which has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection Wednesday, recently announced that it is closing 105 of its stores, including the south Rochester store at 2820 US Highway 63.
It is slated to close on April 15.
