John Hickenlooper: Withdrawing U.S. from global engagement makes us ‘less safe’
Former Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper, who is slated to roll out parts of his foreign policy agenda on Monday, says withdrawing from global engagement makes the United States less safe and is pushing back against such calls he said some Democrats are making.
“The only way to full security is through constant engagement, and by reviving U.S. leadership, we actually make our country safer, but we also make it more prosperous,” the 2020 Democratic presidential candidate said on ABC’s “This Week.”
He declined to name names on which Democrats are calling for a pull-back, but said “they would have the United States withdraw from global engagement and that makes us less safe.”
