Norfolk Public Library hosting Prairie Pioneer Christmas event

December 6, 2018

NORFOLK - Kids will get the opportunity to see what Christmas was like in the old days by attending a Prairie Pioneer Christmas at the Norfolk Public Library this weekend.

Assistant Youth Services Librarian Amber Peterson says kids will learn how to make butter, eat Johnny cakes, gingerbread, and make a variety of different crafts.

Peterson says it’s a great interactive and fun history lesson for the kids.

“Kids will really be able to think about what it was like in Northeast Nebraska 150 years ago when the pioneers were coming through and people were settling in this area. It’ll be fun for kids to imagine, do everything we have prepared and then share it with their family.”

Peterson says pioneer attire is encouraged, but not required.

It’s set to take place Saturday from 10 to 12 at the Library.

You can register until the end of the day Wednesday by calling or going to the library’s website.
