Bones found at cemetery
A person called the Platte County Sheriff’s Office on Friday evening to report the discovery of what they believed to be human bones and clothing. The find was made at the The Glowing Graveyard near Columbus. A deputy from the Platte County Sheriff’s Office responded to the call, only to find that the bones were from an old deer carcass, according to Sheriff Ed Wemhoff. The sheriff said he believes the discovered clothing was unrelated to the bones and most likely left behind by teenagers who have been known to hangout at the cemetery.
Motorist drives off without paying
A Ford Silver Thunderbird drove off without paying for $32.24 worth of gas from Lake Stop Convenience located at 8229 18th Ave. on Sunday. Sheriff Ed Wemhoff said they were unable to get the car’s licence plate and asked for anyone with information about the vehicle or its driver to contact the Platte County Sheriff’s Office at 402-564-3229 or Platte County Area Crime Stoppers at 402-563-4000.
Gunshots cause concerns
A person called in to Platte County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday around noon to report a firearms violation. The caller claimed to have witnessed a man firing shots from a pistol down a roadway near 53rd Street and 60th Avenue in Columbus. A deputy was able to track down the man and gave him a written warning for the incident and for a concealed carrying weapon violation, according to Sherif Ed Wemhoff.
On Sunday evening a call came in to Platte County Sheriff’s Office reporting that Shell Valley Classic Wheels located at 23119 287 St. was vandalized. It appears seven rounds shot from a firearm had hit the building, damaging it. Anyone with information about the incident is being asked to contact the Platte County Sheriff’s Office at 402-564-3229 or Platte County Area Crime Stoppers at 402-563-4000.
Two arrested over weekend
The Platte County Sheriff’s Office received an anonymous tip which led to the arrest of Angaline Moore, of Columbus, on Friday. She was wanted on a Platte County warrant for failure to appear in Platte County Court on a case relating to driving under a suspended driver’s license. Moore was arrested at a Columbus residence without incident, according to Sheriff Ed Wemhoff.
On Sunday, Ismael Ruiz of Columbus turned himself into Platte County detention facility. He was wanted on a Platte County warrant for failure to appear in Platte County Court for a case relating to felony charges. Ruiz’s bail bond was set at $15,000 and Moore’s at $250, according to Corporal Matthew Langer of the detention facility. As of Monday, the two are still in police custody.
