They came away with their first three-game sweep of the Marlins at Great American Ball Park since 2010.

LOUIS (AP) — Matt Wieters (WEE’-turz) drove in a three runs and stole a base for just the third time in six years, leading the St. Louis Cardinals over the Los Angeles Dodgers 11-7 today for a four-game sweep of the NL champions. Making his first start this season, the 32-year-old Wieters hit a sacrifice fly in the second inning and a two-run double in the fifth that put the Cardinals ahead 8-7. With runners at the corners in the fifth, Wieters stole second as Matt Carpenter struck out.

ATLANTA AP) — All-Star second baseman Ozzie Albies and the Atlanta Braves have agreed to a $35 million, seven-year contract, a deal that includes team options for 2026 and ’27. The agreement supersedes a one-year contract signed last month. The 22-year-old is hitting .364 with one homer and two RBIs in 11 games this season after batting .261 with. 40 doubles, 24 homers, 72 RBIs, 14 steals and 105 runs last year.

ST. LOUIS (AP) — — Three-time All-Star infielder Matt Carpenter and the St. Louis Cardinals have agreed to a contract that adds $37 million in guaranteed money for 2020 and ’21, a deal that includes an option for 2022. The 33-year-old has a $14.5 million salary this season a part of a $52 million, six-year deal that included an $18.5 million club option for 2020 with a $2 million buyout. Under the new deal, he has guaranteed salaries of $18.5 million in both 2020 and ’21.

BOSTON (AP) — The Boston Celtics say guard Marcus Smart will be sidelined 4 to 6 weeks after being diagnosed with a partial tear to his left oblique abdominal muscle. He sustained the injury during the third quarter of Boston’s home loss to Orlando. The timetable for Smart’s return means he will be sidelined for Boston’s first-round series and the second round, as well, should the Celtics advance.
