Learning and creating at Sandcastles
From cars and surfboards to games and new characters, kids found a host of new uses for recyclable materials Saturday at Sandcastles Children’s Museum.
Several children participated in the Recycle Creation Station workshop, led by Kathy Radtke, a former teacher whose creativity is well-known in the community through her work with the Petunia Parade on Ludington Avenue every summer.
Radtke answered questions and offered tips for how to turn pieces of discarded paper and plastic into fun, new creations, but said the kids usually being their own ideas to the table.
“They come up with things I’d never think of,” Radtke said. “And their (parents and grandparents) get involved and get excited too.”
