AP-GA--Georgia General Election Runoff Testing,Advisory, GA
NOT FOR BROADCAST, PUBLICATION OR USE ONLINE
The GEORGIA general election runoff is Tuesday, December 4, 2018.
Poll close: 7 p.m. EST
First results expected: 7:20 p.m. EST
Under Georgia election runoff rules, a candidate must achieve a plurality of 50 percent plus one votes to win. Leaders in two statewide races failed to reach this threshold and therefore proceed to a runoff election on December 4. These offices are Secretary of State and Public Service Commission Place 3. An additional race will be tabulated on this date for State House 28. After the primary in May, it was discovered that district mapping errors compromised the ballots for this race by allowing ineligible votes, while other eligible voter ballots did not include this contest. The GOP primary for this race will be repeated on December 4 for Republican voters only. No candidates from other parties filed for this office. State House District 28 includes Banks, Stephens and part of Habersham Counties.
Since there are no other party nominees for State House 28, the winning GOP nominee will be considered elected to office after this special primary.

Statewide and race-specific precinct totals in early tests are considered preliminary.
Uncontested races: There are no uncontested races for this election.
Winners: AP will move a list of unofficial winners at the end of tabulation and during each test, except on the final day of testing. A list of winners, GA-Winners will move to premium services at ftp://electionsonline.ap.org/GA/anpa/.
End of tabulation: AP will advise when its election night tabulation of results has concluded, generally before 6 p.m. local time the day after the election.
Test results are created electronically to test the accuracy of the election night reporting system and do not reflect an expectation of election results. They should not be broadcast, published, replicated or posted on websites.
It is vital to read weekly advisories during testing. Advisories move to news service advisory queues. Advisories note updates to candidates, races and precincts, along with the date when updates will appear. Changes may be made up to Election Day.
AP advises capture of each test during the testing period and particularly during the final test on the day before the election to ensure readiness to take results on Election Day.
Report frequency in testing may not reflect the actual election night schedule. As example, county tables for contested U.S. House races move to Member Choice subscribers in each test but will move just twice on election night.
