Celtics Sign Brunson, Waive Minor
BOSTON (AP) _ Boston Celtics guard Kenny Anderson will be sidelined 2-4 weeks with a broken jaw.
Anderson was injured when he collided with an opposing player during Saturday night’s 91-89 loss to Cleveland.
Celtic spokesman Jeff Twiss said the injury was originally believed to be only a bruise. An examination revealed the slight fracture.
Anderson, who averaged 10 points, six assists and three steals in three games, was placed on the injured list. Under NBA rules, Anderson is required to sit out at least five games.
To replace Anderson, the Celtics signed guard Rick Brunson. Brunson spent parts of the past two seasons with the New York Knicks, appearing in 54 games.
Also Monday, the Celtics released swingman Greg Minor, who had been with the team since 1994, but had not played since fracturing his hip in the 1998-99 season.
