LEOMINSTER -- Any consequences the Columbia Tavern might face in connection with a shooting that took place there several weeks ago will be delayed until Sept. 10 after the License Commission chose not to take action on the issue Monday night.
Chairwoman Lynn Gaudet said the commission opted to give additional time to the matter after the bar’s owner was late to the meeting.
Gaudet did not comment on what consequences the bar might be facing after the Aug. 4 shooting in which one of the Columbia Tavern’s patrons was shot in the leg while standing in the bar’s parking lot.
The victim was brought to UMass Memorial HealthAlliance-Clinton Hospital for treatment. According to court documents, police were initially called to the bar that night because the victim was intoxicating and refusing to leave before he was eventually shot by a Fitchburg man who has since been arrested.
