SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) _ Felipe Crespo broke a tie with a two-run single in the ninth inning as the San Diego Padres beat the Triple-A Sacramento River Cats 5-1 on Saturday night.

Alex Arias also had a two-run single in the ninth for the Padres in the exhibition game that attracted a sellout crowd of 14,317 to Raley Field.

Eric Heinske homered in the third inning for Sacramento, the Oakland Athletics’ top farm club.

Padres starter Bobby Jones allowed six hits in seven innings. Trevor Hoffman pitched a scoreless eighth, and Tom Davey followed with a perfect ninth.

The teams will play again Sunday.
