Georgia Southern 31, VMI 13

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) _ Charles Bostick rushed for a touchdown and passed for another Saturday to lead Georgia Southern to a 31-13 victory over Virginia Military Institute in the Southern Conference.

Bostick gained 91 yards on 15 carries and was 8-of-14 passing for 129 yards as Georgia Southern ended the season at 8-3 overall, 4-3 in the league.

Thomas Haskins led VMI (4-7, 3-5) with 87 yards on 18 carries to become the school’s all-time leading rusher with 3,651 yards, breaking Floyd Allen’s total of 3,569 yards gained from 1978-81. His season total of 1,548 yards also was a school record.

After Georgia Southern took a 10-7 halftime lead, Bostick accounted for two scores in the third quarter. He threw a 30-yard TD pass to Maurice Bing rushed 6 yards for a score.

Dexter Dawson ran 3 yards for a TD and Jevon Sullivan ran 28 yards for a score for Georgia Southern. Eric Meng kicked a 37-yard field goal.

Al Lester threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Marlon Anderson and Greg Ellen threw a 38-yard TD pass to Marcus Griffin for VMI.
