Furyk wins Argentine Open as two locals DQ’d
BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) _ Jim Furyk of the United States won the Argentine Open as two of his prime challengers were disqualified.
Furyk, a member of the U.S. Ryder Cup team and fourth on the PGA Tour money list this season, finished with a 5-under par 275 on the 6,651-yard Jockey Club San Isidro course Sunday, three strokes ahead of Sweden’s Mathias Gronberg and Americans Chris Dimarco and Tim Hegna.
Former Master’s champion Craig Stadler tied for sixth.
Two Argentine stars, Vicente Fernandez and Eduardo Romero, were chasing Furyk through three rounds but were disqualified for irregularities on their scorecards.
