Newest Two Men and a Truck franchisee in Florence wants to improve community
FLORENCE, S.C. – The newest franchisee for the Florence location of Two Men and a Truck is committed to improving the community.
“That’s one of my big goals, to give back to the community,” Liz Walker said Monday by phone. “We’re kind of gearing up right now to start Movers for Moms. It will start about mid-March and run through the beginning of May.
In the Movers for Moms program, Two Men and a Truck franchises partner with local businesses and organizations to collect essential items for women staying at shelters for the abused or homeless. The franchises pick up and deliver the items to shelters around Mother’s Day. The company’s franchises donated more than 295,000 items in 2017 to more than 800 organizations.
Walker said her company also plans to participate in other company-led charitable endeavors, such as Movers for Mutts, a similar program but for shelter pets, and a Truckload of Warmth, where coats are collected for the needy.
Walker became a co-owner of the Florence franchise on Jan. 15, according to the Columbia Two Men and a Truck Facebook page.
“Actually, my husband is one of the other franchisees, and when he started a couple of years ago, I was honestly a little jealous that I wasn’t included then,” Walker said. “We had a partner who was ready to move on to other things, and it was just perfect timing for me to be able to come in and help with the business and help grow the business. I was really excited when this opportunity opened up.”
The other co-owners are her husband, Theo, Tara Boyer and Nathan Bocock. Before becoming a franchisee, Walker spent seven years working for the company in Columbia.
“I am excited about all the new things I’ll learn and all the people I’ll meet in the system and in our service area,” Walker said on the Facebook page. “I want Two Men and a Truck to be an asset to Florence, and the surrounding areas, whether it’s by providing jobs or by doing charitable work for the community. I’m excited for the challenges ahead.”
Walker added that she wants to build up the business as a example to her children of using hard work to accomplish one’s dreams.
