Vikings Sign Wong, McDonald

July 26, 1998

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) _ The Minnesota Vikings signed second-round draft pick Kailee Wong, a defensive end out of Stanford, and third-round pick Ramos McDonald, a cornerback from New Mexico, to three-year contracts Saturday.

The Vikings open training camp Sunday in Mankato, Minn.

Wong will compete for the team’s backup linebacker roles with Pete Bercich, Bobby Houston, Artie Ulmer and 1998 draft picks Kivuusama Mayes and Chester Burnett.

McDonald’s selection gives the Vikings hope for filling a gaping hole in their secondary.

Top draft pick Randy Moss, a receiver out of Marshall chosen 21st overall, remains unsigned.
