New York Times best-selling author to visit Somonauk Library

March 2, 2019

SOMONAUK – New York Times best-selling author Robert Kurson will visit the Somonauk Public Library, 700 E. LaSalle St., at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 7. Books will be available for purchase and to be autographed during the event.

Kurson is the author of four New York Times best sellers, including his 2004 debut, “Shadow Divers,” the true story of two Americans who discovered a World War II German U-boat sunk 60 miles off the coast of New Jersey.

His other titles include “Crashing Through” (2007), “Pirate Hunters” (2015) and “Rocket Men” (2018). “Rocket Men” tells the story of Apollo 8, mankind’s first journey to the moon.

Julie Harte, director of the Somonauk Library, contacted Kurson via email in December after reading all four of his books and realizing that he lives in Chicago.

Kurson himself, not a publisher or editor, replied to Harte’s email and scheduled a date and time to visit the Somonauk Library.

“It is an honor and a privilege that a New York Times best-selling author would visit our small library here in Somonauk,” Harte said. “His books are awesome and they read like an adventure. You don’t want to put them down once you start them. We all look forward to him visiting our library.”
