Fun in waves: Boat show returns to Norwalk with hundreds of vessels, activities

September 17, 2018

Sure, the calendar may be indicating that fall is imminent, but there is still time to eek out some summertime fun by the water. The Norwalk Boat Show, presented by Progressive Insurance, will soon dock in Norwalk, with a full schedule of events, tours and activities.

Hundreds of boats, ranging from luxury yachts to affordable cruisers, will be featured at the docks of Norwalk Cove Marina. In addition to the hundreds of boats for purchase, rescue and fireboats will be stationed to provide a “touch-a-boat” experience for those looking to learn about high-seas rescues and other lifesaving exercises. Those looking for more expertise in their own boating are invited to participate in hands-on boating courses.

Never been on a yacht? Check out the Prestige 680 Fly, a 68-foot luxury craft that will be open to tours. If all that activity creates some thirst, guests are invited to head over to the Water Club for some live music and refreshments.

Looking for a different recreational experience? Try out paddle board, kayaks and canoes at the “Try It Cove.” Want a few DIY tips? Head over to Fred’s Shed, where boaters may attend hands-on clinics on maintenance and repair.

Norwalk Cove Marina, 48 Calf Pasture Beach Road, Norwalk. Thursday, Sept. 20-Saturday, Sept. 22, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Sunday, Sept. 23, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. $15 (12 and younger free with paid adult). 646-370-3660, boatshownorwalk.com
