Glenn boys hoops tops Cougars

John Glenn’s boys basketball team beat New Prairie 52-43 at N.P. on Friday. Carter Yung paced the Falcons (10-6, 3-4 Northern Indiana Conference) with 18 points, and Khori Barker had 13. Chase Ketterer led the Cougars (5-9, 0-6 NIC) with 18 points. Glenn outscored New Prairie 29-22 in the second half.

Glenn girls hoops dispatches N.P.

John Glenn’s girls basketball team downed New Prairie 61-26 at N.P. on Friday. Seja Lang led the Falcons (12-9, 6-5 Northern Indiana Conference) with 17 points, and Dessa Lang netted 12. Taylor Nelson tallied 11 points for the Cougars (4-17, 3-9 NIC). Glenn outscored New Prairie 37-9 after the break.

Morgan tops Westville girls for PCC title

Morgan Township topped Westville 54-48 in girls basketball Friday, taking advantage of South Central’s loss to LaCrosse to claim the Porter County Conference round-robin title. Sarah Weston had 17 points and four assists for the Blackhawks (12-8, 3-4 PCC). Peyton Rodgers notched 10 points and Nicole Albers snagged nine rebounds.

Argos smothers Westville boys

The offense didn’t show up for Westville on Friday in a 58-24 boys basketball loss to Argos. Josh DeChantal managed 10 points for the Blackhawks (5-8, 2-3 PCC), who shot 25 percent.

LP Spring Soccer sign-ups extended

La Porte Soccer Club is for boys and girls age U4 through U19. The deadline for travel teams is extended to Feb 2. The new In-House Youth Soccer Academy (non-travel) sign-ups will be accepted through March 31. Training and instruction by La Porte High School boys and girls coaching staff and current and former LPHS players. LP girls hoops sectional tickets on sale

Tickets for the Class 4A Mishawaka girls basketball sectional are on sale in the La Porte High School athletic office. Only all session tickets are available in advance for $10. Single session tickets have to be purchased at the gate. The Slicers will open at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 1 against the Mishawaka vs. South Bend Riley winner.

La Porte athletic events re-scheduled

La Porte High School has announced a number of schedule changes. There will be no JV boys basketball game Feb. 2 vs. Oregon-Davis. The varsity game tips at 1 p.m. The home boys swim meet with Valparaiso will be at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The home freshman girls basketball game versus Valpo will be made up at 6 on Monday. The freshman boys basketball game at Valpo has been moved to 6 p.m. on Feb. 7.

Slicers boys swimmers best Knox

La Porte’s boys swim team beat Knox 90-75 on the road on Thursday night. The Slicers’ Jordan Hull earned first in both the 100-yard butterfly and 100 breaststroke, and Graham Siefker claimed first in the 200 individual medley as well as first in the 100 backstroke.
