Road Crew Find Woman Trapped Under Boyfriend’s Dead Body
BRADSHAW, Md. (AP) _ A severely injured woman spent at least three days trapped under the body of her dead boyfriend after the two were in a car accident, police said.
Melissa Maier, 35, was in critical condition today at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center. She suffered a broken back, shoulder and ankle, and lost a large amount of blood.
A road crew tending the grass along the road Wednesday found Maier inside the pickup truck. She told them she had been trapped for three days with 30-year-old Charles Frazier, and needed water.
``Between his weight and her injuries she couldn’t get out,″ said Jay Miller, a spokesman for Baltimore County police.
Investigators were unsure how long Maier was trapped. The couple was last seen Friday, and Maier was reported missing by her family Monday.
Police believe Frazier’s speeding pickup ran a stop sign and went off the roadway, clearing a stand of trees and going airborne before ending up behind the embankment where it was found.
