— POLICE SHOOT ARMED MAN: Hartford police have identified a man who was shot and critically wounded by a city officer and accused him of holding a woman hostage at knifepoint during a domestic dispute. SENT: 130 words.

— OFFSHORE WIND: The public comment period for a new offshore wind farm off the Rhode Island coast project is closing. Providence-based Deepwater Wind has proposed building up to 15 turbines that will connect to a grid in East Hampton, New York, to supply power for Long Island. SENT: 130 words.
