Three athletes, one contributor/staff member and one team will be inducted into the Wayne State College Athletic Hall of Fame this weekend during Homecoming/Hall of Fame activities on Saturday.
The Hall of Fame inductees will be honored during halftime of Saturday’s home football game vs. Bemidji State at Bob Cunningham Field. The 2018 Hall of Fame inductees include former Norfolk Catholic graduate Nicole Brungardt. She was a volleyball and track & field standout from 2008-2012. Brungardt was a four-year letter winner and defensive specialist on the Wildcat volleyball team, averaging 2.48 digs per set as a senior (2011) and 2.23 digs per set during her junior season (2010) while playing on four teams that made the NCAA National Tournament. She also competed in women’s track and field for two seasons (2011, 2012). In two years of track, Brungardt was a four-time All-American, eight-time All-Region selection and five-time NSIC champion. She holds four indoor school records yet today – 60 meters, 200 meters, long jump and the 4X400 relay and holds three outdoor school records in the 100 and 200-meter dashes and the 4X200 meter relay. Also receiving induction will be football’s Silas Fluellen, staff/administrator Keith Goetz, the 2011-12 women’s basketball team, and softball’s Kaiti Williams. Williams will be inducted posthumously.
