SAN ANTONIO (AP) _ Irene Pacheco, the International Boxing Federation flyweight champion, retained his title with a fourth-round technical knockout against Mike Trejo on Friday night.
Pacheco, from Columbia, hadn’t fought in a year. He hurt Trejo twice in the third round with punishing lefts and knocked him down in fourth. After Trejo got to his feet at 1:45 of the fourth, referee Robert Gonzales stopped fight.
Pacheco improved to 27-0 with 20 knockouts. Trejo slipped to 27-2-2 with 16 KOs.
In the co-main event, Tony Ayala Jr. needed less than two rounds to knock out Manuel Lopez.
Ayala earned his 29th win and 25th knockout in 30 fights. Lopez, of Denver, dropped to 22-3 with 10 knockouts.
San Antonio flyweight Gabriel Elizondo (10-0, 6 KOs) picked up a second-round technical knockout against Guillermo Puga (17-8, 8 KOs).
