Notre Dame Honor Roll: Leach, Ryan, Doughty, Latsapanya
TYNGSBORO -- Four students at the Academy of Notre Dame were recently recognized for their hard work, organization of events, and commitment to the community during the months of December and January.
Nora Leach of Groton was named Student of the Month for December. Nora works toward forwarding the mission of the school with the coordination of the outreach program at St. Patrick School in Lowell every month. During the holidays, she also initiated, organized, planned and recruited volunteers to participate in a visit to The Atrium at Drum Hill for the Mission and Ministry Christmas Service Project. The initiative inspired the activities director at The Atrium to make it a monthly service project.
Caitlin Ryan of Groton is December’s Distinguished Senior for her service, sports and leadership activity. In addition to representing the 1804 Society at Emmanuel College’s leadership conferences every year, Caitlin is also a member of the National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society, has served as vice president of her class for three years, and competes for the swim, basketball and track teams. The school’s first six-year swimmer also shares her talents in the pool, volunteering with Special Olympics as a swim teacher. Caitlin is a strong leader with an excellent work ethic who sets a good example with her willingness to pitch in and lend a hand when needed.
Erin Doughty of North Andover is January’s Student of the Month for her work with Mission & Ministry. As retreat coordinator, Erin helped plan and organize this year’s junior retreat and showed her dedication by becoming a eucharistic minister and offering support on a regular basis for liturgies and prayer services. Her faith and thoughtfulness shine on many occasions, as she demonstrates inclusivity and kindness to everyone around her. Erin is also a three-season athlete who sings the national anthem at volleyball and basketball games. Many faculty members have been touched by her random acts of kindness.
Anoutsa Latsapanya of Lowell is the Distinguished Senior for January for her exemplary volunteerism. Anoutsa selflessly gives her time and energy to organizations, such as the Lowell Humane Society, Saint Patrick Church and Rosie’s Place. She is a National Honor Society student ambassador to Catie’s Closet, and she organized a recent trip to volunteer there. Anoutsa also serves as an NHS tutor, and is a member of the Glee and A Cappella clubs as well as the Drama Guild.
