Gronk May Miss Game
By Kevin Duffy
FOXBORO -- Rob Gronkowski’s status for Thursday night’s game against the Indianapolis Colts appears to be up in the air.
Gronkowski didn’t practice on Tuesday, according to the team’s injury report. The New England Patriots’ superstar tight end is dealing with an ankle injury. He was limited in practice leading up to the Week 4 romp over the Dolphins, and he left the game in the third quarter and did not return.
The Patriots were leading 31-0 when Gronkowski exited.
While the injury is not considered serious, the quick turnaround could prevent Gronkowski from playing in Week 5.
Interestingly, the Patriots played a Thursday night game in Week 5 a year ago and encountered a similar problem with their All-Pro tight end. Gronkowski was nursing a minor thigh injury heading into Week 5 at Tampa Bay, and he ultimately did not suit up for the game.
He returned the following week.
After a monster performance in the opener against the Texans, Gronkowski has totaled 110 yards in his past three outings. The return of Julian Edelman and an increased role for Josh Gordon should free up space for Gronk in the coming weeks.
